Announcements that may impact the markets this week

Big news for this week!

Below are some announcements that may impact the markets this week:

(All Times are in GMT)

News Event Analysis

Greece will go to the elections this weekend with the potential to destabilise the Eurozone.  If the pollsters are right then there is potential that an anti-austerity party will be voted in.  The country has been bailed out to the tune of Euro 240 billion but the economy has shrunk by 25%.  If the Syriza party, led by Alexis Tsipras, win then it is likely that he will call for a reduction in the debt burden.  Either way the Euro will continue to be volatile.

Market News

The unprecedented Swiss move last Thursday, the ECB stimulus package and the Greek elections have led to the Euro experiencing a 6th weekly decline against the major currencies.
However, the Yen rose against the dollar as BOJ Governor Haruhiko Kuroda implied that that the central bank may broaden its approach to stimulus, but did not specify what options were available.
Bothe the Aussie and Kiwi hit fresh lows against the dollar, not seen since 2009 and 2011 respectively.
