The Canadian employment figures seemed to
disappoint today as USDCAD jumped from below 1.0650 to over 1.0685 and now has
climbed to 1.0720 and holding. Global
confidence for a sustained recovery has been dented recently and this is just
another nail.
The Aussie has also taken a bit of a tumble
against the greenback after RBA's president Steven's comments of 'no
particular view on interest rate speculation and intonating a downturn in the
market within ten years.
Global markets got a taste of the 'old
days' as Portugal's Banco Espirito Santo suspended shares after an affiliate
delayed payments on some debt. The knock
on effect to 'risk-off' trading sent judders around the market. Weak data from France and Italy still has
implications for the Euro.
