Hirose UK sponsors Taro Hakase's Charity Concert for JapanNews

Charity Concert for Japan
Tuesday 11th March 2014
16:00-16:45 (doors open 15:30)
St John's Waterloo (nearest station: Waterloo)
73 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8UD

To mark the third anniversary of the terrible earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan's Tohoku region, Taro Hakase, Japan's most popular violinist, will join Akiko Ono (violin) and Maciej Janas (piano) for a fund raising concert in the beautiful St John's Church in Waterloo.

This will be the third year that Taro and his friends have marked the event, raising over £45,000 in 2012/3 for the Ashinaga Foundation and over £34,000 for the Red Cross in the week immediately after the tsunami in 2011.

In Japan Taro continues to raise awareness of the enduring need for emotional and financial support for those affected by the disaster through his music and concert tours. His most recent album, Japonism, includes the composition 'With One Wish', written to give a sense of hope and a reaffirmation of the power of life and love - through music. This afternoon's concert aims to do just this while raising money for the Ashinaga Foundation's important work in Tohoku.

Programme Includes:
Leclair:  Sonata for two violins No. 5
Shostakovich:  Five pieces for two violins and Piano
Sarasate:  Navarra for two violins
Wieniawski:  Caprice

As well as various well loved pieces by Taro Hakase

There will be a retiring collection in aid of Ashinaga Foundation for the Tohoku Rainbow House (www.ashinaga.org/en/programs/rainbowhouses.html)
